Taib is to resign and his UMNO 'friends' are grinning

by Sebanaku Sarawak

KUCHING: The recent statement by the State Barisan Nasional (BN) Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud last Tuesday on his willingness to step down if the rakyat wanted him to do so has caught many with surprise.

Although the subject of stepping down per se is not something new to Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud as he did in the past indicated that the day would come when he felt that he had to call it a day, it was the timing of his statement that has caused minor tremors in the country - the state election is just around the corner.

Many believe that Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has started to realize that he is no longer enjoying strong supports from the rakyat of Sarawak.

After Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak told him in mid 2009 that there would not be direct negotiation for any project, he never thought that his boss could easily forget what he had told him.

He got to know that the Sibu Malay conman had been awarded projects totaling RM400 million from the federal government via direct negotiation after the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong made queried with him about one or two weeks after the Sibu parliament by-election.

Surat Terbuka Sempena Sambutan Bulan Ke-3

Mahyan to seek revenge?

by Sebanaku Sarawak

KUCHING: To some in Sarawak or even in Malaysia, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Batu Lintang Branch deputy chairman Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamed is a legendary figure in football.

Although in term of achievement, his successors could be better than him, it is undeniable fact that his era as the Sarawak football coach is more electrifying and exciting if compared with any coach in Sarawak.

It was during his short reign that he coined the Ngap Sayot battle cry which is still famous until now.

Who is guilty - Hasidah or Fadillah? Or both?

by Sebanaku Sarawak

KUCHING: Since the completion of the multipurpose hall about two years ago, it has been a talking point among the villagers.

They just can’t fathom the rationale of having a RM200,000-worth multipurpose hall but it could not be used due to no electricity and water. And the workmanship is generally bad.

And they also wondering whether the multipurpose hall is really worth RM200,000 or actually only RM100,000 or less.

The reason is, there is nothing special about the multipurpose hall that can justify its cost of RM200,000.

It is due to their strong support to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) that causes them not to bring this matter to the attention of the oppositions.
