KDCA And 11 KDM-Based Associations Call For Action Against Suara Pakatan Blog
PENAMPANG, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Kadazan Dusun Cultural
Association (KDCA), together with 11 other Kadazandusun Murut
(KDM)-based associations, have condemned a blog, "Suara Pakatan Rakyat",
for posting an article which disparaged and made a mockery of the
Sumazau dance.
They regarded the words contained in the article as an insult to portray the KDM community as a minority and not important in the country's political arena.
KDCA president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the article had hurt the feelings of the KDM community in the country and urged the authorities to take action against quarters responsible for posting the article.
"On Sept 11, the KDCA office received several calls from the public who complained about the article in the 'Suara Pakatan Rakyat' blog for making a mockery of the Sumazau dance.
"After studying the article, we found it an insult and disrespectful of the Kadazandusun Murut and this is against the aspiration of the 1Malaysia concept which emphasises national unity," he told a media conference at the Hongkod Koisaan building near here today.
Subsequently, he said, a report was lodged by KDCA at the Penampang police station yesterday.
"As the 'Huguan Siou' (paramount leader of Kadazandusun), I find the matter to be serious because it has disparaged and insulted the Kadazandusun Murut culture," he added.
Yesterday, KDCA organised a meeting with the KDM-based associations to discuss the matter.
Among the associations which attended the meeting were the Kuala Penyu Tatana Cultural Association, Sabah-born Children Cultural and Welfare Association, Sabah Tombonuo Association, United Sabah Tindal Organisation, Sabah Suang Lotud Association, Sabah Runggus Association, Momogun Community Organisation, Sabah Kadazandusun Murut Welfare and Education Association, Sabah Kimaragang Association, Sabah Keranaan Liwan Family Association (Sakag) and the Sabah Sino-Kadazandusun Association.
The Sumazau dance is a traditional dance of the Kadazandusun and is often performed during the 'Tadau Kaamatan' or the Harvest Festival which is celebrated in May.
