Sabah Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association dan 11 NGO Kadazanduzun Murut amat marah dengan 'Suara Pakatan Rakyat' yang menghina tarian Sumazau

KDCA And 11 KDM-Based Associations Call For Action Against Suara Pakatan Blog
PENAMPANG, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA), together with 11 other Kadazandusun Murut (KDM)-based associations, have condemned a blog, "Suara Pakatan Rakyat", for posting an article which disparaged and made a mockery of the Sumazau dance.

They regarded the words contained in the article as an insult to portray the KDM community as a minority and not important in the country's political arena.

KDCA president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the article had hurt the feelings of the KDM community in the country and urged the authorities to take action against quarters responsible for posting the article.

"On Sept 11, the KDCA office received several calls from the public who complained about the article in the 'Suara Pakatan Rakyat' blog for making a mockery of the Sumazau dance.

"After studying the article, we found it an insult and disrespectful of the Kadazandusun Murut and this is against the aspiration of the 1Malaysia concept which emphasises national unity," he told a media conference at the Hongkod Koisaan building near here today.

Subsequently, he said, a report was lodged by KDCA at the Penampang police station yesterday.

"As the 'Huguan Siou' (paramount leader of Kadazandusun), I find the matter to be serious because it has disparaged and insulted the Kadazandusun Murut culture," he added.

Yesterday, KDCA organised a meeting with the KDM-based associations to discuss the matter.

Among the associations which attended the meeting were the Kuala Penyu Tatana Cultural Association, Sabah-born Children Cultural and Welfare Association, Sabah Tombonuo Association, United Sabah Tindal Organisation, Sabah Suang Lotud Association, Sabah Runggus Association, Momogun Community Organisation, Sabah Kadazandusun Murut Welfare and Education Association, Sabah Kimaragang Association, Sabah Keranaan Liwan Family Association (Sakag) and the Sabah Sino-Kadazandusun Association.

The Sumazau dance is a traditional dance of the Kadazandusun and is often performed during the 'Tadau Kaamatan' or the Harvest Festival which is celebrated in May.

Sarawak 18 points Agreement for formation of Malaysia

SARAWAK 18 POINTS AGREEMENT WHEN Helping to Form Malaysia (not join, NEVER applied but HELP FORM)

Point 1: Religion
While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo.

Point 2: Language
* a. Malay should be the national language of the Federation
* b. English should continue to be used for a period of 10 years after Malaysia Day
* c. English should be an official language of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) for all purposes, State or Federal, without limitation of time.

Point 3: Constitution
Whilst accepting that the present Constitution of the Federation of Malaya should form the basis of the Constitution of Malaysia, the Constitution of Malaysia should be a completely new document drafted and agreed in the light of a free association of states and should not be a series of amendments to a Constitution drafted and agreed by different states in totally different circumstances. A new Constitution for Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) was of course essential.

Point 4: Head of Federation
The Head of State in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should not be eligible for election as Head of the Federation

Point 5: Name of Federation
“Malaysia” but not “Melayu Raya”

Point 6: Immigration
Control over immigration into any part of Malaysia from outside should rest with the Central Government but entry into Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should also require the approval of the State Government. The Federal Government should not be able to veto the entry of persons into Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) for State Government purposes except on strictly security grounds. Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should have unfettered control over the movements of persons other than those in Federal Government employ from other parts of Malaysia Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah).

Point 7: Right of Secession
There should be no right to secede from the Federation

Point 8: Borneanisation
Borneanisation of the public service should proceed as quickly as possible.

Point 9: British Officers
Every effort should be made to encourage British Officers to remain in the public service until their places can be taken by suitably qualified people from Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 10: Citizenship
The recommendation in paragraph 148(k) of the Report of the Cobbold Commission should govern the citizenship rights in the Federation of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) subject to the following amendments:
* a) sub-paragraph (i) should not contain the proviso as to five years residence
* b) in order to tie up with our law, sub-paragraph (ii)(a) should read “7 out of 10 years” instead of “8 out of 10 years”
* c) sub-paragraph (iii) should not contain any restriction tied to the citizenship of parents – a person born in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) after Malaysia must be federal citizen.

Point 11: Tariffs and Finance
Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.

Point 12: Special position of indigenous races
In principle, the indigenous races of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should enjoy special rights analogous to those enjoyed by Malays in Malaya, but the present Malays’ formula in this regard is not necessarily applicable in Borneo(Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 13: State Government
* a) the Prime Minister should be elected by unofficial members of Legislative Council
* b) There should be a proper Ministerial system in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah)

Point 14: Transitional period
This should be seven years and during such period legislative power must be left with the State of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) by the Constitution and not be merely delegated to the State Government by the Federal Government

Point 15: Education
The existing educational system of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should be maintained and for this reason it should be under state control

Point 16: Constitutional safeguards
No amendment modification or withdrawal of any special safeguard granted to Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) should be made by the Central Government without the positive concurrence of the Government of the State of North Borneo
The power of amending the Constitution of the State of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) shouldbelong exclusively to the people in the state. (Note: The United Party, The Democratic Party and the Pasok Momogun Party considered that a three-fourth majority would be required in order to effect any amendment to the Federal and State Constitutions whereas the UNKO and USNO considered a two-thirds majority would be sufficient)

Point 17: Representation in Federal Parliament
This should take account not only of the population of Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah) but also of its seize and potentialities and in any case should not be less than that of Singapore

Point 18: Name of Head of State
Yang di-Pertua Negara
Point 19: Name of State
Sarawak or Sabah

Point 20: Land, Forests, Local Government, etc.
The provisions in the Constitution of the Federation in respect of the powers of the National Land Council should not apply in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah). Likewise, the National Council for Local Government should not apply in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah).

YB Datuk Billy Abit Joo vs YB Tan Sri James Jemut Masing

Masing to Abit: What are you up to?

Posted on September 4, 2012, Tuesday
Johnny Osman
KUCHING: PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing is puzzled as to why Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo set up his own service centre in Kapit last weekend after knowing he has not been nominated by the party to defend the seat in the coming general election.
Masing alleged that ever since Abit helmed Hulu Rajang 22 years ago, he had never helped to finance the party’s branch headquarters in Kapit town.
“I can’t understand why he has finally decided to set up his own service centre in Kapit town when we already have our party branch headquarters there.
“And why only now has he decided to do so when his name is not nominated by the party to defend the seat?” questioned Masing, when asked to comment on Abit’s opening of his service centre in Kapit over the weekend.
Abit was also reported to have set up service centres in Belaga and Sg Asap.
“What he is trying to do now is too little too late. The decision has been made that he will not represent the party in the coming general election. And the least he should do is to use our party office in Kapit instead of operating solo.”
PRS Baleh branch deputy Youth chief Johnny Osman said Abit setting up his own office in Kapit had surprised him as he had never set up such a centre in Kapit.
“He surprised me because he is only setting up his office when he is not re-nominated by the party to defend the seat. Is this not an act of defiance of the party’s instruction? It could even be an act of disobedience to the party leadership.”
Johnny added as a senior party leader, Abit ought to explain to the people of Hulu Rajang why he was doing what he did (setting up his service centre).
“He should put party interest above personal interest, especially since he is a senior member of the party.”
PRS has nominated Masing’s private secretary Wilson Ugak Kumbong to replace Abit for the upcoming 13th general election.
Ugak was a political secretary to the chief minister for 15 years prior to his present appointment.
Besides being a deputy chairman to Masing in PRS Baleh branch, Ugak is also a member of the party’s supreme council.

Wong Judat akan di ngap oleh PRS

Easier to deal with Wong now — Masing

Posted on September 4, 2012, Tuesday
KUCHING: Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) will now find it easier to handle Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat as he is no longer in the Barisan Nasional after he was appointed vice-president of Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) last Saturday.
“It will make it easier for us as now, the battle path is clear as what he is doing now has no implication on Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP),” said PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.
Until he was formally accepted by SWP, Wong had been taking potshots at PRS from behind the walls of BN as vice-president of SPDP, a BN component party.
“Now, there is no more complication. As Wong is now facing BN as an opposition candidate, we will tackle him as an opposition,” said the Land Development Minister.
Masing told The Borneo Post that the change of position of Wong did not make much difference except that it was making things easier for PRS as the latter had always been hostile to his party.
Wong resigned from SPDP to fulfil his vow to fight Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang if the latter was re-nominated to defend the Julau seat.
With Wong joining SWP, a face-off with Salang looks inevitable in the coming general elections.
Salang when contacted said what Wong had been doing was exercising his democratic rights and he had not much to comment on his decision to join SWP.
“He must have done what he thinks is best and it is entirely up to him what he wants to do,” said Salang.
On meeting Wong head-on in the coming polls, Salang said it did not matter who stood against him or under which party.
“What matters most are the constituents. To me, the constituents are much more important than the candidate I am facing when it comes to elections.
“The outcome of the election will show whether the people support what he has done or if they liked the kind of personality he has displayed,” added the Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture.

Wong Judat : Bye bye willam mawan and tiong king sing, hello dato sng chee hua

Meluan rep’s latest move expected — Dr Rundi

Posted on September 3, 2012, Monday

Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi
KUCHING: The latest move by the Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) to appoint renegade Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat as party vice president, whose membership was anticipated to pave his way as a potential SWP candidate in the 13th general election, was expected, Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi said yesterday.
He said the state BN would fight SWP as 1BN if they stood against any BN candidates even though SWP president Larry Sng’s repeated insistence that the recently formed party had always maintained its friendliness towards BN and its components except Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).
“As long as SWP is outside BN they are opposition (despite Larry’s claims as being BN-friendly) and I believe they are out to confuse the voters,” he told Bernama here.
“I wish to reiterate here that no party shall doubt the BN spirit, understanding and sincerity in fighting the opposition in the coming polls,” he said in response to the inclusion of Wong into SWP during its supreme council meeting here yesterday, which raised the question of whether he was in the party’s list of candidates.
Wong, whose resignation from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), is at loggerheads with Julau Member of Parliament Datuk Joseph Salang and has expressed his intention to contest in Julau if the former were to be re-nominated by BN.
Larry had also said SWP would contest against PRS in all of its six seats in the parliamentary polls.— Bernama

Meluan rep made SWP veep

Sarawak Workers Party yet to decide whether Wong Judat will be picked for 13th General ElectionKUCHING: Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat, whose resignation from SPDP on Aug 7 has yet to be endorsed by the party’s supreme council, is now a member of the recently-formed Sarawak Workers Party (SWP).
His application to join SWP was endorsed during the party’s supreme council meeting yesterday.
In fact, SWP also appointed him as a supreme council member and one of its four vice presidents by virtue of him being an elected representative.
SWP president Larry Sng said Wong’s admission to the party was unanimously agreed to by the supreme council members.
“During our meeting today (yesterday), there was no objection to Wong’s application to join the party,” Sng told a press conference after the meeting.
Wong was not present at the meeting, but his application was among the more than 10000 approved yesterday.
Asked if Wong’s admission into the party meant he would automatically be picked to stand in the pending 13th general election, Sng said the matter was not discussed in the meeting.
‘ SWP is not a one man party’
Such matters, he explained, would only be discussed by the supreme council when Parliament is dissolved.
“SWP is not a one man party. Any decision about candidates is for the supreme council, which is the highest decision-making body in the party to decide.”
Sng made it clear that SWP had never wooed Wong to join the party, adding that the party kept an open door policy for people who believed in its cause and struggles.
Wong’s joining SWP is not a surprise because ever since SWP came into being several months ago, he had often been seen in the company of its leaders.
He is at loggerheads with Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, and had vowed on numerous occasions to contest in Julau if Salang were to be re-nominated by BN in the pending polls.
