KUCHING:Kampung Matang Lot residents are at loss on how they could get the attention from their representatives to seriously look into their predicaments.
It has been more than 5 years they have requested for a concrete bridge to replace an old wooden bridge.
They admitted that the government did respond to their request but some how the implementation was being questioned.
Instead of replacing the old wooden bridge, the government, as per advice given by an influential Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leader in the village, had constructed a concrete bridge for the benefit of only one family in the village.
The villagers were basically not happy with the decision but they just couldn't do anything.
The government believed the man more than they believed the villagers.
They subsequently invited their representative to visit their village to show the undeniable evidence of the government's development project was being hijacked to benefit only one family but the representative was making a lot of excuses not to go to the village.
He just told the villagers to submit their request, through the PBB man, and he would see what he could do!!!
Why the so-called people's representative was so determined to close his eyes over the abuse of 'power' by the PBB leader?
What if the PBB leader decided to abuse his power for another time by diverting an approved fund for the replacement of the wooden bridge to something else that would only benefit his friends or cronies?
After a local newspaper highlighted on the old wooden bridge issue, the PBB man was said being queried by the people's representative on the matter.
One of the PBB members who attended the meeting said the villagers were merely making a false claim as to discredit him.
He also said the villagers were oppossition members!!!
And the people's representative believed him!!!
The same PBB leader is actually being suspected by the villagers for cooperating with illegal loggers to steal trees from the nearby jungle.
Many claims that they could see logs being placed near to the PBB leader's house before they were taken away by lorries.
To them, it was unacceptable to them if the PBB leader claimed that he didn't know about the logs as they were placed less than 10 metres from his house.
And he should know whenever lorries entering the village to take the logs because the lorries would certainly passed by his house due to the fact that it was the only way to get the logs.
And again no body believed the villagers.
To correct the situation, may be the best alternative for the villagers is to vote for Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Sarawak in the coming election.
Why should the rakyat's trust is given to a person who only believe his own party member than the villagers???!!!
Hidup Parti Keadilan Rakyat!!! Hidup Anwar!!!
