PBB Youth should lead in defending Taib, says Daud

KUCHING: Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing should be more vocal and be at the front line in defending Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud the party president, said Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman the party’s vice president, yesterday.
He added if the youth wing was subdued and less vocal than others in coming to the defence of the party president, it could be seen as ‘weak and ineffective’.
Referring to the recent disappointment expressed by several PBB Youth branch leaders over the youth chief Datuk Fadillah Yusuf’s reticence on allegations brought against Taib, he hoped that their grouses could be resolved amicably for the sake of the party.
Daud was responding a query on a statement made by the Pelawan youth chief Mohd Junaidi Sambang who urged the party to take action to resolve their unhappiness with Fadillah for his lack of action in defending Taib.
Last Tuesday, Junaidi said, among others, the youth chief failed to drum up the support for Taib when the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) had announced that the latter was being investigated by the commission.
He also pointed out that Fadillah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, had failed to demand that Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaludin openly apologise to Taib and other leaders of the BN component parties for his statement in belittling the achievement of the State BN in the last state election.
