KUCHING -- Three Sarawak athletes who won medals at the Delhi Commonwealth Games were rewarded by the state government, the Sarawak State Assembly was told Tuesday.
Social Development and Urbanisation Minister Datuk Seri William Mawan Ikom said Bibiana Ng and Pandalela Rinong anak Pamg, who won gold and silver medals respectively in the shooting and diving events, received incentives totalling RM50,000 each.
He said Brian Nickson Lomas, who won two bronze in diving, received a total of RM15,000.

He said Brian Nickson Lomas, who won two bronze in diving, received a total of RM15,000.
The incentives were the state government's way of rewarding Sarawak athletes who turn in medal winning performances at big meets, he said when winding up debate for his ministry.
Mawan said under the reward scheme, RM40,000 was paid for a gold medal, RM20,000 (silver) and RM10,000 (bronze) and half of the amount if the medals were won in team events.
He added that that this incentive scheme was separate from the National Sports Council's reward scheme and that it would also apply to the Asian Games that kicks off in Guongzhou, China, this week.
