DUN (Day Four): 'Acquired land belongs to government’

Posted on June 25, 2011, Saturday

THE government will not return any unused portion of land that has already been acquired to the previous owners.

“The owners would have been duly compensated,” said Minister with Special Functions in the Chief Minister’s Office Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem in response to a question from Wong King Wei (DAP-Padungan).

Wong also questioned how the government would solve the problem affecting landowners who have the land titles but the (physical) land cannot be traced.

Adenan said: “In our state land administration system, all boundaries of lands that are issued with land titles have been surveyed and defined.

“Therefore, the boundaries can be located and verified by the surveyors.” He advised landowners to engage licensed land surveyors to verify their lands to avoid such problem from arising.
