KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) state publicity chief See Chee How yesterday strongly denounced the ‘abuse of power’ by the government by checking the people’s rights to hold a peaceful gathering.

“We (PKR) are disappointed with such actions. All Malaysians have a moral and righteous duty to safeguard their constitutional rights and demand good governance from the elected government,” he told a press conference.

Are we, Sarawakians, to be conned by Anwar to give our votes to Semenanjung parties?

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a very amazing man who has a superb ability to convince people to believe what he wants them to believe.

Throw him to any where in this world, he would certainly survive. This is an undeniable fact which is known to all, especially those who are following his political career.

Baru is Anwar's talking puppet???

PKR state liaison chief Baru Bian is indeed a very nice person. In fact, he might be the cleanest politician in Sarawak with no skeletons hiding in his closet.

He has won the admiration of the rakyat with his persistency in fighting for the NCR land issues which are purportedly being taken illegally by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Adakah pilihanraya ini adalah pilihanraya terakhir parti-parti Sarawak???

N1 Opar - SNAP has a fighting chance against the BN candidate.

N2 Tasik Biru - It would be a very embarrassing for the BN candidate to lose but it seems that a very slim majority in favour of the incumbent is in order

YB Dominique Ng Kim Ho has quitted from PKR today to contest as an independent candidate in the coming state election.

However, he is still undecided on the constituency - i.e. between Padungan and Batu Lintang.

KUALA LUMPUR: The recently concluded Pakatan Rakyat national convention showed up one significant fact: Pakatan is losing its Malay supporters who had voted for the coalition in the 2008 general election.

This is evident when Malay members of the three parties – DAP, PKR and PAS – were seen whispering among themselves outside the venue about the Pakatan leaders. Their opinions were not favourable.

No water, electricity, roads in Jabu’s Layar

Layar is still in the grip of abject poverty although it is under the care of its assemblyman and Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu Numpang. 

KUCHING: The Layar constituency in Betong still remains among the most neglected sites in Sarawak despite having a deputy chief minister as its assemblyman.

The majority of the longhouses in the constituency are without water, electricty and roads. 

It will take at least a three-hour to four-day walk to reach Layar.

Said Stanley Embat, a potential Sarawak PKR candidate: “Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu Numpang, who is also the State Regional Development Minister, has failed to do his duties in his constituency.”

Embat has visited 70 of the 82 longhouses in the counstituency and is appalled that despite having held the Layar constituency for 36 years, Jabu has not managed to secure “clean water supply, electricty and roads” for his people.

KUCHING: PKR Ali Hussein has won many hearts and minds of Taman Sourabaya Indah PBB sub-branch youth members when he made a surprise visit to a house of the  sub-branch youth secretary recently to grieve with the latter's family over the demise of a senior member of the family.

As a matter of fact, his appearance had caused a stir, at least among the youth members, because they expected their assemblywoman YB Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali to turn up.

Definitely not Ali Hussein who is rumoured to be the PKR candidate for the Demak Laut constituency in the coming state election.

A revitalised Sarawak National Party (SNAP) wants the Dayaks in the state to join forces and reclaim their rights.

SIBU: An revered “elder” in Sarawak politics has made a clarion call to the Dayak community to return to the Sarawak Nasional Party (SNAP) fold and help the party reclaim its right.

In making the call, lawyer and former diplomat Dato Sri Daniel Tajem urged Dayaks “not to wait” until their “individual rights whittle to nothingness”.

UPDATED AT 11.40PM KOTA KINABALU: Former PKR vice-president Jeffrey Kitingan today announced the formation of United Borneo Front (UBF) as a network grouping for Sabahans and Sarawakians to assert their rights.

He also said that he was not leaving PKR as was widely speculated and dodged questions if he would leave the party in the near future.

Speaking to reporters at the end of his two-month vacation from politics today, Jeffrey said that the United Borneo Front would work to ensure that the rights of Sabahans and Sarawakians are protected.

The movement will work as a watchdog for the people of Sabah and Sarawak, he added.

The maverick politician also said that UBF will be his main platform for his struggle, which he aims to achieve, regardless of under Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat.

PKR is confident that Nurhanim Mokshen will wrest the seat from the incumbent Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman who had a minor stroke last month.

Nurhanim Mokshen is to face a new Barisan Nasional candidate in Tupong if Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman decided to retire from politics due to his health problem.

My announcement yesterday to withdraw from the contest was not meant to belittle the effort of party members and supporters in preparation of these party elections, as this is not just about my circumstance. The truth is, these Keadilan elections are a shambles. Hundreds of complaints have been submitted, but Anwar Ibrahim continues to deny them proper investigation. There are over a hundred candidates who wish to see a proper and fair election process in place. This is as much their fight as it is mine. For it is important to remember that these issues exist and they are very real.

Yesterday, Anwar Ibrahim had demanded that proof be brought forward of election fraud and malpractices to the Central Election Committee. But this has already been done. The Central Committee is well aware of what’s going on; Anwar should stop playing politics and the pretending must stop. A summary of these malpractices have been furnished to members of the media present today.

I wish to announce my withdrawal as a candidate from the contest of Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat and my resignation from all posts held in the party.

I was offered to join this party under the belief that I could promote enlightened and progressive politics; nurture and develop principled political values and culture that I consider indispensable to the development of democracy and good governance in this country. I was mistaken.

Over the course of the party elections, events have shown that the leadership actively condones malpractices and electoral fraud to achieve its designed objectives. I am certain that any political party with such hypocritical and false values will not be able to offer meaningful reforms to the people of this country.
