UBF: Jeffrey wants Malaysia Agreement reviewed

Luke Rintod | March 28, 2011 FMT

Sabah and Sarawak must seize control of their own destiny and shape their own economic and political model, according to UBF leader Jeffrey Kitingan.

KUNDASANG: United Borneo Front (UBF) leader Jeffrey Kitingan said both the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat political models are out-dated, as far as the 1963 Malaysia Agreement isconcerned.

Jeffrey, who has experience in both BN and Pakatan, claimed that both political fronts pay mere lip service to the agreement that is, by its very nature, faulty for want of proper legal interpretation of the original intentions of the forefathers who brought this country together.

“They (Malayan leaders) failed since 1963 to include the Borneo Agenda as an important component of their party manifestos,” he told a UBF Borneo tea party at Kampung Bundu Tuhan in Kundasang on Saturday.

N49 Nangka: DR versus SYED

The defeat of the Barisan Nasional candidate in the Sibu by-election last year, had kick-started the initiative to look for a possible candidate to replace Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah.

Although the oppositions were quick to claim that it was the strong dislike for the Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud by the Chinese voters was the main cause for the defeat, some PBB leaders disagreed with this view.

UBF: Please respect Malaysia Act 1963

A free and independent Sarawak
Maclean Patrick | March 21, 2011

Sarawak cannot secede from the federation but one can surmise that the state can act independently of the federal government.

COMMENT

In the 18-Point Agreement with the Federation of Malaya, Sarawak has been given self-governing authority.

This document forms the cornerstone of Sarawak’s entry into the Federation of Malaysia and should be the measure by which the state evaluates any new policy formulated by the federal government.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has all along stated that Sarawak could not survive without a BN government. This is the slogan being chanted by BN representatives with the state election around the corner.

This idea is erroneous since Sarawak existed as a self-governing mini-nation long before the idea of the Federation of Malaysia was mooted.

N20 Sadong Jaya: An invisible hand is behind the BIG NO to Bekir

KUCHING: It was indeed a very risky decision but apparently the goal had been accomplished without any 'casualty'.

When PBB Sadong Jaya branch vice chairman Abdul Muttalib Julaihi came out with a strong statement condemning the efforts to bring Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib to the constituency, many in the party were shocked.

(To openly say no to a son of the party president Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is something which not everybody is keen to do it because it is a sign of disrespect to the party president.)

Although Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud had dismissed the possibility of his son to agree to the request, it was still impolite for Abdul Muttalib Julaihi to openly say the branch didn't support any move to bring Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib to the constituency.

Why all contracts are given to West Malaysian contractors ???

KUCHING Feb 17, 2011: The state Federal Finance Office (FFO) yesterday clarified that it was never involved at all in the processing and awarding of school contracts.

Its officer Jabidah Monseri in a statement explained that contracts for maintenance and cleaning services, unarmed security and supply of rations for schools in the state were handled by the state Education Department and the Ministry of Education in Putrajaya.

“Nevertheless, FFO will review the tender process to ensure that government procurement rules and procedures were adhered to,” said Jabidah.

FFO was referring to the disappointment by the Tasik Biru branch of Ex-Serviceman Association (PBTM) over the manner school contracts were awarded.

Is Pakatan losing Malay supports in Malaya?

Wed, 22 Dec 2010 06:24

By Zainal Epi

KUALA LUMPUR: The recently concluded Pakatan Rakyat national convention showed up one significant fact: Pakatan is losing its Malay supporters who had voted for the coalition in the 2008 general election.

This is evident when Malay members of the three parties – DAP, PKR and PAS – were seen whispering among themselves outside the venue about the Pakatan leaders. Their opinions were not favourable.

UBF: Give Sabah, Sarawak 45 parliamentary seats each

Queville To | February 28, 2011

With its current 'mere' 25%, it will be meaningless to competing federal coalitions in the event of a tie in the general election, says Jeffrey Kitingan.

KOTA KINABALU: United Borneo Front (UBF) leader Jeffrey Kitingan has proposed an increase in parliamentary seats to 256 from the current 222 in tandem with the population increase in Sabah and Sarawak.

He said this was crucial to protecting the interest of states, in particular Sabah and its people.

He said currently Sabah and Sarawak held 25% of the parliamentary seats which was less than than ‘even a 1/3 right to vote.’

Taib, is Karim your only general in the party???

Anonymous said... (in Daud salahkan media tersilap tafsir)

YAB CM,

Saya tok bukannya nak berlagak pandey dalam lam politik. Tapi sebagai penyokong pbb, saya nak berkongsi kekhuatiran dengan kitak.

Mun kitak perasan, kinek tok kelihatan kitak seolah-olah berjuang seorang dirik.
