Percubaan tubuh kelab BN oleh rebel SPDP dan/atau SUPP salah - Timbalan Speaker Dewan Rakyat

Formation of BN Club not the answer, says Junaidi

KUCHING: The formation of a Barisan Nasional (BN) Club is not the best solution to overcome internal problems of any Barisan Nasional (BN) component party because by doing so (forming such a club), not only will it make matter worse but such action will eventually affects BN itself.

“Forming a BN club in Sarawak is actually an unhealthy step and only a temporary mechanism because it might also trigger a new trend for other BN members to choose the simple way out or shortcut over a misunderstanding or quarrel with other party members or party leader by forming or joining the BN Club as a solution,” Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Dr Haji Wan Tuanku Jaafar pointed out.

He added that should they choose to do so (establishing the BN club) it certainly would have a long term impact either indirectly or directly not only in creating confusion, factions among the members of the party concerned but will also affects the BN as a whole, too.

“If this (formation of a BN club) becomes a reality, what guarantee can you give that the others, say for an instance, those who are unsatisfied with their parties suddenly decide to follow by joining the club? Will it not affect our State BN,” Junaidi asked.

Junaidi, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Santubong was asked by reporters to comment on the decision taken by former senior officials of Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) also known as “SPDP 5” comprising four State Assemblypersons and an MP of their plan to form a BN club in Sarawak after quitting and sacked by their party.

“I am not taking sides on the matter but in my view, the formation of the club is not the answer to the problem. Those involved should use other option such as approach the State BN Chief Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud or even the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak to settle the matter once and for all,” he said.

When asked if there were still rooms for negotiation or any more chances for both sides to settle the matter as the situation seemed to have deepened further and gone into an even critical stage, Junaidi smiled and said: “Of course, it is easy for me to tell them to hug and forget about the past and to move on but in politics nothing is impossible if you really want to settle a crisis.” “For me, politics is the “Art of Possible”, it is possible for a person who is an “enemy” from another political party to one day and suddenly becomes your “best friend” after joining your party.

So it is not an impossible task for them (those involved in the SPDP crisis) to reconcile because they are actually “brothers and sisters” from the same party.Nothing is impossible,” Junaidi said.

Describing the SPDP crisis as only a family matter, Junaidi said urged both sides to meet the top State and Federal BN leaders as soon as possible for the sake of the party (SPDP) and the State BN in general.

On the internal crisis between factions of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) President Datuk Peter Chin and former SUPP President candidate Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Junaidi said that both of them are veteran politicians and hoped that the crisis can be settled as soon as possible to regain the trust of the Chinese community in the state.

Reminding the people that the 13th General Election is near, Junaidi urged component parties of the State BN to avoid creating any crisis and should there be any internal conflict, it should be kept inside the party and those involved in the conflict should not use the media as a platform to “hit” at others.

“This does not mean that we are trying to “hide” anything because all the misunderstandings can be solved internally without any outside quarters knowing about it,” he added.

Junaidi who was accompanied by his wife Datin Hajah Feona Sim was interviewed by reporters during a routine visit to his parliamentary constituency and having ‘Lunch with the leaders programme’ at Kampung Muara Tebas near here last Sunday.

  1. BN Club is not a best solution to solve the cripples in SPDP but rathert as the interim arrangment to have a transit for the expelled YBs to stay with BN Components. Whtherther we like it or not the initiative taken by them is also to ensure that the strength of BN remains intact. We are lucky for not seeing them jumping to opposition. Of course such move will take any future precedences should similar case happens again but to have BN Club exists would at least give those in dispute have a so called temporary huts before deciding which party they will join or waiting for their problem to be solved.

BN should be more opened in this kind of unique case. Normally those who sacked by the party will immediately become independent or join opposition party so continue thier struggle. Unlike the five of this respectful YB who decided to stay in BN as long as they wanted , filling the heart of the people who voted the, and showing to the people that the truly leaders could only follow the leadership of the greatest not by personal agenda. Loyalty to the party is important but fulfillinng the aspiration given by the people by the mandate given through democratic election seem fas more important than others... A big applause to the five YB... you served well...

  2. It's a ridiculous solution by the dictatorial BN. They won't stop messing around with the ROS or any government institution. Or religious institutions!

"...truly leaders could only follow the leadership of the greatest not by personal agenda..."

Honest leaders will only be suppressed in Malaysia or Sarawak. If those in the BN club are honest, they should stand independently. They mess around with everything ...they have no respect for anybody, nor you! If Taib didn't respect the institution of Dewan Undangan Negeri by shutting up people from speaking and debating as provided for under the constitution, what makes people think he'll respect anybody but kepala Apgong???

  3. As for Parliament, Junaidi, probably orchestrated with that SOB Bung Mokhtar to sabotage discussions. Good ain't it?! You have an ex-cop as Speaker of Parliament. They might as well have parliament sitting in a Police Station!

It's not rule by majority. It's rule by the "corrupt majority" as in a Police State? Where the majority usurps power off every decent institution!

Majority Sarawakian voters or society do not yet understand "institutional values". They do understand prisons, lockups and Police!

If moral, ethical values were invested in say Taib, they will die with him even before Taib hits the grave, like now. If you screw up institutions, something drastic has to happen.

It's happening now. And Malaysia will Change!
